    I haven't read a book this real, this raw, this riveting in a long time. I agree with the other reviews - you can in vision that time in history, feel the characters' heart aches - be along for the ride - making it impossible to put this book down. It is a must read. Don't forget the box of tissues.

    There are not many books in which I am so vested in the characters that I truly feel an emotional attachment to them. The Nightingale was different. This book absorbed me so fully to the point that I found myself crying several times, which is extremely unusual for me, and I couldn't put the book down. Although this book is fiction, the story is totally believable, as if it could have been taken straight from the pages of the two main characters' diaries during WWII. Such a tragic but great story!
